Random Thoughts…02092012

Only in RC San Juan – can you find a passionate Rotarian who has led us in the singing of the Rotary Hymn for three consecutive weeks, and cap last week’s rendition with an evangelical holding and raising of hands at the song’s finale. Yes PP Noel Mesina who claims to be a personal acquaintance of the Rotary Hymn’s composer, George Canseco, converted last week’s community singing into a religious event. I mean, it’s a touching song, don’t get me wrong, but at the end of singing the Rotary Hymn last week I felt like shouting Alleluia!

The Rotary Hymn and the only other song, “You Don’t Know Me” has moved PP Noel to jump up from his seat, grab the microphone and sing – sometimes, solo. Thanks to PP Noel, DGE Lirio Sandoval should be glad our club knows The Rotary Hymn by heart (and soul).

We are still in a quandary if CP Marilou Co has already been declared District Governor Nominee Designate after news that the losing candidate CP Maricris Pineda was going to challenge the result of the election conducted by the District Nominating Committee. Perhaps the Rotary adage “It is the position that seeks the man (woman)” should be explained to CP Maricris, that if you have not been elected, the position obviously did not seek you, and that if you challenge – you are going against the adage and seeking the position.

Makes you wonder why some people would go to such lengths to be District Governor. It’s such a thankless job anyways.

Cheers and enjoy RotaryJ

PP Jovie
